The history of s1mple

The first breakthrough came to s1mple in 2014 under the team HellRaisers, where they defeated, among others, fnatic – which was highly regarded at the time – and thus knocked the top dog from the throne. They eventually lost to NiP, but the performance is remembered.

After it went well for him, he had to take a bitter setback with the banishment from the ESL a few months later. However, he was able to overcome this well before he took off again with Team Flipsid3Tactics a short time later. His performance was simply convincing and his Gamesense paired with the accurate Aim led to a high reputation in the scene.

In 2016, s1mple again competed for Liquid at the ESL One in Cologne and then switched to Na’Vi where they had their first big win together at the ESL One in New York. Also at that time, s1mple took home the MVP award.

s1mple has struggled with his toxic streak from time to time in the past. The high-flying early days with Na’Vi were followed by a series of less well-run tournament appearances. The mood in the team came to a head and other team members moved to new teams. With the new team set-up, the internal climate has calmed down.
