Legendary director Hayao Miyazaki returns from retirement to direct 1 last Ghibli flim!

In an interview with the New York Times, Miyazaki didn’t give many details about the film, but mentioned that it will be based on the 1937 book ”How Do You Live?” by Genzaburo Yoshino.

The story is about a teenager in Tokyo who moves in with his uncle after the death of his father. According to reports, the novel is one of Hayo Miyazaki’s favorites.

For those who don’t know Hayao Miyazaki here is a little introduction.

Hayao Miyazaki is a Japanese anime director and film producer. He is also the founder of Studio Ghibli which is known worldwide for their films.

He was awarded an Oscar for one of his films ”Chihiro’s Journey to Wonderland” in 2003. And two of his other films have been nominated for Oscars.

Miyazaki has already retired several times during his career, the first time was in the late 1990s.

A year later, however, he returned from retirement to direct the 2002 Academy Award-winning Studio Ghibli film Spirited Away.

His last film was in 2013 “The Wind Rises”, a fictional biography film about Japanese aviator Jiro Horikoshi and the A6M fighter he developed.

The Miyazaki has not announced much about his new film but news should be announced soon.
